Research in this study group focuses on the role of musculoskeletal function in patient cohorts and healthy individuals. We have a special interest in the role of immobility for musculoskeletal health, which we investigate in space flight related studies. We have national and international cooperation partners in academics and industry<\/p>\n<p><b>Topic:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The project will focus on characterizing the musculoskeletal response of the human body to immobilization in bed rest, with a special focus on joint health.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>collect and analyze research data (biomarker, imaging, life style, musculoskeletal function)<\/li>\n<li>develop methods for an integrative data analysis of the newly acquired data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The main focus will be on a two 60-days bed rest studies, which is being conducted at different locations in the EU\/US,\u00a0funded by the European Space Agency and the German Aerospace Centre<\/p>\n<p><strong>We are looking for a<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>highly motivated creative doctoral candidate,<\/li>\n<li>capable of working in an interdisciplinary team,<\/li>\n<li>with an above-average master or comparable university qualification in sport\/movement science, kinesiology, physiology, bio-\/medical engineering, sports technology, biotechnology, life sciences, space life sciences, or similar fields<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<header class=\"frame-header\"><strong>You should have a<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>high interest in statistical methods,<\/li>\n<li>scientific writing and<\/li>\n<li>be willing to travel frequently\u00a0(within Europe and to the US).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/header>\n<header class=\"frame-header mt-5\">\n<p class=\"element-header \"><strong>Additionally advantageous<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<p>The candidate must have a<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>strong knowledge of musculoskeletal function, biostatistics and human movement &amp; physiology and<\/li>\n<li>interest in space physiology.<\/li>\n<li>English language skills should allow for barrier free written and oral communication in English with international partners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<header class=\"frame-header\">\n<p class=\"element-header\"><strong>We offer<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<ul>\n<li>PhD student position<\/li>\n<li>interdisciplinary research team<\/li>\n<li>national and international collaborations<\/li>\n<li>participation in an international space science research project<\/li>\n<li>possibilities to join graduate schools, early career programs (e.g. Ariadne Med)<\/li>\n<li>benefit from FAU graduate center<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Apply here: https:\/\/recruitingapp-5531.de.umantis.com\/Vacancies\/5199\/Application\/New\/1<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Clinic of Internal Medicine 3 \u2013 Rheumatology &amp; Immunology, University Hospital and Friedrich-Alexander-Universit\u00e4t Erlangen-N\u00fcrnberg (FAU) in Germany invites applications for a PhD position in life sciences \/ biology (Dr.rer.biol.hum.)
