Stipend PhD (three years)
The Hannover Medical School (MHH), with around 10,000 employees, is the largest state-owned enterprise in Lower Saxony. It is an independent university institution for research and teaching in human and dental medicine as well as a university hospital providing supramaximal care. Research, teaching, patient care, and administration work hand in hand in an integrated model on the MHH campus.
The student receiving the stipend will be co-advised by an Orthopedic Surgeon and Researcher with expertise in the biomechanics of the Musculoskeletal System.
Project: Physics-based deep learning framework for personalized implantation of hip prostheses
The stipend is associated with the Hannover Biomedical Research School (HBRS). HBRS is an interdisciplinary graduate school for physicians (MD/PhD, MBBS, Dr.med.) and life scientists (Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Engineering, and Veterinary Sciences): HBRS
The specific Project is associated with the Project A01 of the Interdisciplinary Collaborative Research Center SIIRI (Safety-Integrated and Infection-Reactive Implants): SIIRI, Project A07
Qualifications:
We are searching for candidates with:
- A Master of Science in biomedical-engineering, biomechanics, or other associated discipline
- Demonstrated active engagement in Research in at least two of the following areas:
- Experimental musculoskeletal biomechanics
- Numerical simulation methods: of either human motion, joint mechanics,
bone mechanics or similar - Machine Learning in a human motion or biomechanical context
- Very good English spoken and written communication skills
- A commitment to cooperate and interact with researchers from other disciplines
- The desire to work engage in and actively contribute to a highly multidisciplinary team of students, scientists, and physicians
- A high degree of self-motivation, and a results-oriented work ethic
- One or more conference abstract or scientific publication
